PICTURES ADVENTURERS P.E. - WIGHT Ms. Bolton’s students had a really fun session in Ms. Wight’ gym space on Friday, January 6th. They practiced many balancing and movement skills while taking turns rotating through different learning stations. Groups were allotted between one and six people to situate around the loop. Groups were assigned either one or two loops to complete. In order to organize their team and figure out what the results meant, students had to grasp basic fraction understanding. As they worked through the planning and competing stages, student could absorb differences between whole numbers, quarters, thirds and sixths. Then, at the end of the competition, the times were all shown on the board for each loop completed. The event was made more exciting by including the tech staff who set up the hallway cameras to view the competitors as they made the rounds. Since each team went separately, everyone else could observe the racers on the large TV screen in the professional library meeting space. This was an engaging and successful math activity. She wanted to see if individual or groups of students could figure out a math pattern. It did not take long. They did, and then filed into the classroom for a continuation of their instruction. 1-6-2023. Link to 7 Pictures. TWINS AND TRIPLETS

NOTICE TO 5th, 6th & 7th GRADERS ABOUT CROSS COUNTRY SKIING DURING P.E. Although the weather is not cooperating with enough snow at the moment, the January/February cross-country ski physical education unit for these age groups will begin on Monday the 9th. Fitting for boots and skis will take place in that first session. Several weeks later we hope to be skiing on the soccer fields. Before students can actually use the skis, the PE teachers need the informed consent forms students took home with them prior to the winter break. If the form has been misplaced, here is the link to the digital pdf. version of the consent form or the on-line version of the form can be filled in. This P.E. unit is a fantastic opportunity to get free experience cross country skiing - an excellent winter activity in Vermont. |
