U.S. SENATOR, PETER WELCH, VISITED ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL

Senator Welch, the state secretary of agriculture, our superintendent Bill Kimball, and various journalists came to St. Albans City School to see how the meal systems work here and in our school district. 1-11-2023. The district meals program was discussed over a delicious lunch of locally produced foods.

Senator Welch also wanted to learn more about our school-wide stewardship program. This program was presented to the senator by the students on the current stewardship committee. They used a slideshow to highlight ten years of our stewardship activities; planting orchards, bringing chickens into our daily lives, developing outdoor learning spaces, fostering our wider community through Veterans day or Operation Happiness events, and more. Senator Welch was impressed and said he was eager to return to Washington to put what he learned to work. Link to 50 Pictures.

VOYAGERS AT JAY PEAK

It was the Voyagers turn to visit Jay Peak on Tuesday, January 10th. It turned out to be a good day for skiing even with the wind and cold temperatures. Most of the students and staff worked on their skiing skills while others offered support and encouragement at the bottom of the slopes. Ms. Mitchell captured the day with photographs and Ms. Chisholm shared a short clip of students riding the magic carpet. Link to 105 Images & one video clip.
