PICTURES FISH UPDATE - ROULEAU (Feb-1-2023) This video was taken yesterday (Wednesday). The alevin have begun the “swim up” stage because their yolk sac is all used up. They started swimming up to the surface looking for food. We have begun to feed them 2-3 times a day with fish food. They have been very active and some of them have even jumped out of the net into the bigger tank. We have to catch them and put them back in the net because they are too small and can get caught in the filter pump. We will release them into the bigger tank after February break. Link to 9-second video clip. FISH UPDATE - ROULEAU (Jan 27-2023) This video of the trout was taken on Friday of last week. If you look closely you can still see the yolk sac on the belly of the alevin. This is what they are using to grow until the yolk is gone and then they will do something called “swim up”. You can see in the video the alevin are happy to be laying on the bottom at this time because they are not looking for food. Link to 12-second video clip. |
