TRIUMPH 4TH GRADE STEAM PROJECT - DRAPER These 4th graders were tasked with creating a model of a one-hole miniature golf course. Some of the supplies provided were cardboard boxes, felt, glue, wooden construction sticks, rocks, cardboard tubes, and foam pipe insulation. They were asked to make a fun, interesting looking and challenging course. A marble would serve as their golf ball and students had to make their own golf clubs. There had to be a starting point, obstacles and a hole for the marble to be hit into. Link to 16 Pictures. RED CLOVER AND GOLDEN DOME BOOK AWARD NOMINEES In the remaining part of April and throughout May we will highlight The Red Clover Book Award and the Golden Dome Book Award nominees. The Red Clover Book Award is designed for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Each year thousands of Vermont school children read the nominated picture books and vote for their favorite in the spring. The award has been handed out annually since 1997. The Vermont Golden Dome Book Award (formerly the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award) was created to honor excellence in children's literature. Each year since 1957, Vermont students in grades four through eight have selected their favorite book from a list of nominees. It is recommended that students read at least five of the year's nominated titles before voting. Voting takes place in the spring, generally beginning in April. When Amari loses her scholarship at the private school where she’s bullied and disparaged for being black and poor, she finds that she has an alternative: an invitation to a magical training camp from the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs. She’s sure that this may be the key to finding her missing brother, Quinton - whom everyone except Amari has accepted as dead. As Amari starts to discover her own magic, she forges new friendships and finds new challenges in the form of evil and corruption within the organization. Can she find her brother and save herself at the same time? |
