MARCHING BAND IN THE HALLWAYS

On the Thursday before spring break, the senior band made a short loop through the school building to continue practicing their marching and playing skills. Numerous students came to their classroom doorways to listen and watch. It is the time of year when fourth graders and older students are encouraged to consider taking up an instrument when they return to school next year. Small events like this one make students want to be a part of our very special music program. 4-20-2023

STRINGED INSTRUMENT INTRODUCTION

Mr. Charpentier’s students gave a demonstration to students from Voyagers 4th grade. The Voyagers got to learn what it will take to become a skilled stringed instrument musician and how they can get involved next year. 4-20-2023

SUMMER FOOD ASSISTANCE

Vermont will be issuing a final round of Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) benefits for Summer 2023. All students at our school qualify for a Summer P-EBT benefit of $120 per student. This is because of the way that we are offering free school meals to all students this year.

The benefit will be sent to the head of household and mailing address that we have on file for your student. If you have moved or need to update the head of household, please let us know by Wednesday, May 10th. To make changes, please contact Jennifer Seymour at Jseymour@maplerun.org

These benefits will be sent out by mid-August. If your student missed school for a COVID-related reason between February 2023 and May 11, 2023, you will receive benefits for those days at the same time.

Please see Frequently‐Asked Questions (FAQs) About School Pandemic EBT (P‐EBT) for more information. If you need to request a new card or have more questions about P-EBT, visit https://dcf.vermont.gov/esd/P-EBT or call 1‐800‐479‐6151, option 7.

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

RED WHITE AND WHOLE by Rajani LaRocca

A first-generation American, Reha performs a balancing act between school and home, trying to fit in with her American peers while adhering to her Indian parents' values and high expectations. When her mother is diagnosed with leukemia, Reha’s world is turned upside down and it becomes even more important to be the daughter her mother expects and deserves.

SNAKE FALLS TO EARTH by Darcie Little Badger

Oli is a cottonmouth (yes, the snake) who lives in the Reflecting World, a world still connected to our own, where animal people can shift between animal and humanoid forms. When his friend Ami, an ancient toad, falls ill, Oli must travel to Earth to find a cure. Fortunately, he’s not alone - he has the help of twin coyotes, a mischievous mockingbird, and a human girl named Nina. It’s a race against time in this magical, mythical story about environmental stewardship.
