PICTURES & NEWS

RELEASE OF THE SACS TROUT INTO A LOCAL BROOK - ROULEAU
Mr. Rouleau took two students with him to release the trout raised in a fish tank in a Team USA classroom. The trout were finally large enough to fend for themselves in local brook. 5-12-2023.  Link to 7 Pictures.

WALKING AND BUSING FRIDAY - RAFFLE
Once again, the climate committee assembled on Monday morning to pull out names of raffle winners for the past week. Thirty school store coupons were distributed to the raffle winners from among the 359 students who bussed, walked, scootered or skateboarded to school. Students had a one in eleven chance of receiving a coupon. Know that even if you did not win a coupon,  your entry could still make you a winner at the end of the month when we draw names for one of four used bicycles.

LIBRARY

Curious about Audio Books at St. Albans City School, then check out THIS LINK

May is Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month!  This month celebrates the unique journey of all AAPI immigrants and citizens in the United States and their unique life experiences, traditions and cultures.  Look for these books in our library to help you honor and celebrate the historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian and Pacific Islander descent.

Harpreet Singh has a different color for every mood and occasion, from pink for dancing to bhangra beats to red for courage. He especially takes care with his patka—his turban—smoothing it out and making sure it always matches his outfit. But when Harpreet’s mom finds a new job in a snowy city and they have to move, all he wants is to be invisible. Will he ever feel a happy sunny yellow again?

George Takei has captured hearts and minds worldwide with his captivating stage presence and outspoken commitment to equal rights. But long before he braved new frontiers in Star Trek, he woke up as a four-year-old boy to find his own birth country at war with his father’s—and their entire family forced from their home into an uncertain future. In a stunning graphic memoir, Takei revisits his haunting childhood in American concentration camps, as one of over 100,000 Japanese Americans imprisoned by the U.S. government during World War II. Experience the forces that shaped an American icon—and America itself—in this gripping tale of courage, country, loyalty, and love.
