PICTURES & NEWS EXPLORERS VISIT TO SPARE TIME The Explorers teachers shared pictures they took of their students on the Friday, June 2nd field trip to Spare Time. Link to 44 Photos. URBAN TREE CANOPY PROJECT Here are a few pictures of Team USA students working on Saturday, June 3rd to get 250 trees handed out to local residents who reserved them as part of the Urban Tree Canopy Project sponsored by UVM Extension Service and the Arbor Day Foundation. Team USA students worked at getting the word out about the opportunity and on distributing the trees. Gwen Koslowski from UVM Extension said this was one of the most successful tree projects she has worked on and attributes it to the quality work of our students. She is very excited to try again next year. CLIMATE COMMITTEE RAFFLE FOR BIKES Here are the winners of the raffle for those who took the bus or walked/biked/scootered/skateboarded to school in May. A few of the raffle winners chose water bottles instead of the used bikes since we had either small or large donated bikes and no between sizes. Thank you to everyone for participating in the challenge to get to school in the most energy efficient, least polluting way possible. HAY BALES FOR THE STEWARDSHIP DAY HAY RIDE The school had to search high and low before securing hay bales for the upcoming hay rides and for the next school year's sledding hill barriers. The Cadieux family located some bales for us at a family barn. Here are pictures of the boys helping move the bales. Link to 9 Pictures. Wednesday, June 14th, 10:00 am. Mt. Calvary Cemetery Team USA in conjunction with the VFW and American Legion will be co-hosting a flag retirement ceremony. We have numerous boxes of old flags that have been prepared by students for a proper retirement. This is a solemn and dignified event. Ceremonies to retire a flag can differ from each other. The short ceremony will include a few words shared by the veterans, pledge of allegiance, taps, and an honor guard with a three rifle volley. The rifles will be fired as a part of the ceremony. There will be a fire onsite to dispose of the flags. The ashes will be buried the following day. Example of a ceremony - https://youtu.be/tdHXR0PYCuY Flags needing to be retired can be dropped off at Team USA. EXPLORERS TWINS |

LIBRARY
June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. During this month-long celebration we recognize the resilience and determination of the many individuals who fight to live freely and authentically. In doing so, we are opening hearts and minds, and laying the foundation for a more just and equitable America. Please check out these books in our library today to learn more about people and characters that represent our diverse community! Teo loves to dance, whether it's the cumbia with Papi, the bhangra with Amma, or ballet class with Miss Lila. He also loves the way his tutu makes him feel, inside and out. But when it comes time to decide which outfit to wear in the big dance recital--a sparkly tutu or shimmering silver pants--Teo wonders if being his most authentic self on stage will put him too much in the spotlight.
