Unified Arts Night on 2-2-2016 Was a Success!
Many parents and students attended performances and visited the Unified Arts rooms around the school. There was terrific music, singing, dancing, taste testing, exercise activities and hands on learning experiences. One long-time parent told us Unified Arts Night was her favorite school event of the year thus far -and has been in recent years. Here are a few photos of the evening.
Walk to School Day (Yesterday 2-3-2016) Results
Seventy one students and twelve adults (83 total) braved sleet, rain, 20 mile an hour winds and 38 degree temperatures to walk to school. This means that about 10% of the school population came in by foot. Thank you to the leaders and parents who helped make this event possible. Walking students, feel proud of your participation.
Challenge. Students and adults have walked a total of approximately 1,323 miles on Walking Wednesdays this year. That mileage is equal to about half way across the country. We have seven more Walking Wednesdays this year. To make it all the way to Seattle WA from St. Albans, we would have to have about 200 participants on each of the remaining Walking Wednesdays. Because we have had nearly 300 participants at times on our walks, this seems like an achievable goal. Teachers could you ask your students to join future walks?
Discovery Students model with mathematics
Discovery students are learning to multiply decimals using models. They transitioned smoothly because of their fractional reasoning foundation and their understanding of multiplying fractions.
