Community Garden Calendar Art Contest
Are there any St. Albans City School artists that want to create a picture about community gardens?

The Vermont Community Garden Network invites students in grades 2-12 to participate in a statewide art contest to tell the story of Community Gardens, the nourishment they bring, and how they are rooted in the Vermont communities they serve.

The winning artwork will be selected by Garden Expert Charlie Nardozzi among others. One selection from each county in Vermont will be included in the calendar, and ALL submissions will be posted on the VCGN website.

What are these on the tree next to where everyone plays four square??
While at recess, some of the Voyager and Discovery students were being bugged by a mystery!! They noticed these insects hanging on a tree and wondered what they were. They also noticed below the insects were several tiny holes.

Were the holes made by the hanging insects????

Take two on the snacks.
Today we should have the plums that were scheduled for yesterday. Yesterday the plums were not ripe enough to eat, so we had to make a last minute change to grapes.  Sorry about the confusion.

Just a little information on the grapes you had yesterday....
1. The average person eats 8 pounds of grapes a year.
2. Grapes are 80% water so make a good snack, low in calories.
3. Dried grapes (raisins) contain only 15% water.
4. Grapes help minimize the risk of heart attacks because they increase the levels of nitric acid in the blood which prevents blood clots.
5. Grapes are used to help cure asthma indigestion, migraine, kidnеy disease and fatigue.
6. Grapes are a laxative if you eat too many.

BREAKFAST MENU
Students may take two fruit servings with each meal. They must take at least one.
