Bike Helmet Use
We have noticed that many of the students riding to school are not wearing helmets. We hope that the reason for this choice is because you don't have one and are planning to get one in the next few weeks.

Fourth through 8th graders please show some leadership and wear one to school. Helmets reduce the likelihood of head trauma by 85% if you have an bike or skateboard accident. If you use a helmet, younger students and your peers will feel better wearing one too.

Last Friday bike and ski helmet order forms were handed out to all learning communities. If you need a helmet please turn in your order form by Wednesday Sept. 28th.

For snacks today we have apples from Swanton

1. Apples are actually part of the rose family, just like pears and plums.

2. There are more than 2,500 varieties of apples grown in the U.S. That means if you had apple a day, it would take you nearly seven years to eat each kind.

3. It takes two pounds of apples to make one nine-inch apple pie.

4. Two-thirds of the fiber and lots of antioxidants in apples are found in the peel.

BREAKFAST MENU
Students may take two fruit servings with each meal. They must take at least one.
