Every Box Top for Education = $0.10 for our school, and they REALLY add up! We'd like to send in one more BIG Box Tops submission before the end of the school year.
Families: Do you have Box Tops at home? Please have your child(ren) bring in all Box Tops to their homeroom teacher ASAP!
Teachers: Do you have Box Tops in your classroom? (Don't forget the ones on your SBAC snack boxes!) Please deliver them to AC214 or put them in Ms. Maguire's mailbox ASAP.

NEW PLAYGROUP!
Join us for a new parent led playgroup at Saint Albans City School every Friday from 8:30-9:30am until the end of the school year
This playgroup is geared to the 0-5 age group, but all are welcome. Please contact Laura at 802-922-2269 or Nichole at 802-488-0413 if you have any questions.
Use the main entrance, sign in and join us in the library for an hour of play and socializing.
Weather permitting, we can enjoy some outside time as well, on the pre-school playground.
Snacks are not permitted in the library.

REPORTS AND PICTURES
WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS Participation continues to increase with the improving weather. 198 people walked or biked to school. One hundred and eighty one participants were students. The Voyagers tried to get all their students to join in and nearly succeeded with 35 who signed in at the school entrance. Consequently, the Voyagers are the champions this week for the Walking Wednesday contest. Voyagers teachers were out walking on several of the routes with their students. Other teams also stepped up Walking Wednesday promotion. The Incredibles (with 24) and Investigators (with 20) deserve special mention.  Here are some of the Voyagers walking with a group to school  NOW FOR THE NAIL BITING WALKING WEDNESDAY FOUR WEEK RESULTS Even though Voyagers had awesome participation this week, they have only tied for the lead with the Incredibles. The Incredibles have consistently generated good walking Wednesday numbers, whereas the Voyagers have focused instead on walking path laps -until this Wednesday. Travelers and Investigators are not far behind on Walking Wednesday numbers and could conceivably win. The high scoring team that can mobilize almost their entire population next Wednesday will win the pool party for this walking/biking contest. Next Wednesday is the last day of the contest. NAVIGATORS' CHICKS
On Wednesday Mrs. Lawyer's kindergarten students took their newly hatched chicks outside to enjoy the warm weather. Here are a few pictures from that experience. 5-24-2017
BEST FRIENDS A chicken and duck feeding together on SACS property - Wednesday 5-24-2017  KILLDEER FOUND ON ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL ROOF About a week ago Mr. Pelkey (a facility maintenance staff member) found four killdeer eggs on the roof of the school building. Several days ago three of the eggs hatched. The one shown below did not. Notice how camouflaged the eggs and the birds are when on our stone covered roof. Mr. Pelkey holds up a baby killdeer that fell off the building roof. He brought it back up to the bird's parents on the rooftop shortly thereafter.
Killdeer Information
A shorebird you can see without going to the beach, Killdeer are graceful plovers common to lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, and parking lots. These tawny birds run across the ground in spurts, stopping with a jolt every so often to check their progress, or to see if they’ve startled up any insect prey. Their voice, a far-carrying, excited kill-deer, is a common sound even after dark, often given in flight as the bird circles overhead on slender wings.
