REPORTS AND PICTURES
HOLOCAUST SURVIVAL STORY K. Heidi Fishman presented her mother's holocaust survival story to all 7th and 8th graders on Wednesday 6-14-2017. This story has been documented in her recently published book (Tutti's Promise), a copy of which can be found in the library now. Using slides, she explained how her mother's family made a series of choices that, combined with luck, helped them survive the extermination the jewish people in the World War II. Students and adults in attendance paid close attention to this fascinating story.
USA
Team USA spent the day at Georgia Beach on Monday, 6/12. Students and staff had fun in the record heat. They had fun playing ball, corn hole, frisbee, tennis, playing on the playground, fishing, and swimming. Everyone was happy to be surprised by Mrs. Jolley with more water is some popsicles.
TEAM USA Trout Release Day
Team USA successfully completed its first year with the Trout In the Classroom project. The Vermont Trout Unlimited and the St. Albans Rotary sponsored our project. We were given 100 brook trout eggs in January. We were tasked with monitoring their development over the past months. On Monday, 6/12, we released 82 fingerlings into the Mill River. Volunteer, Bob Wible shared his knowledge of trout and fishing with our group. Below are a few pictures of our release.
UNIFIED ARTS ELECTIVE ROCKET LAUNCH Mr. Mehaffey took his class of rocket builders out to launch their creations. An audience of other 7/8 grade students, kindergarteners and teachers enjoyed watching. The rockets flew fast and high above the soccer fields before floating down on parachutes. |
