PICTURES AND REPORTS

AIRFORCE VISITORS
On Wednesday morning Senior Airman, Conor Lamb and Airforce Sergeant Michael Anderson spoke to 7th and 8th graders. They came here in conjunction with a week-long focus on supporting Veterans. Both men serve in the National Guard and they were recently stationed in the United Arab Emirates. They talked about their time serving in the National Guard and how it has shaped their careers. They pointed out that the skills being taught in schools today will impact students later on in their lives and therefore it is important to make wise choices along the way.

ECONOMICS UNIT - JOBS PANEL
Tim Smith from the Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, Erica Hubbard from Superior Technical Ceramics, Kathy Lavoie from the Franklin Grand Isle Workforce Investment Board and Jim Naylor from the NorthWest Technical Center came to speak to our older students about how to present themselves when applying for jobs. It is useful for students to gain a sense of employer's expectations as they prepare in school.

THE  RESULTS ARE IN FOR THE WAY TO GO CHALLENGE
We did NOT win the solar tracker or bike rack this year :(  but we can still be proud that we did our part to make transportation to school more energy efficient during the competition. Our solid performance essentially gave us a raffle ticket for the drawing of the prizes. Here is what the Way to Go staff sent us about the competition:
We’re excited to announce that 8,984 students, faculty and staff participated in the Challenge from 48 schools across the state. That’s a 23% increase in school participation from last year! Thirty-eight schools achieved at least a 50% participation rate to be eligible to win this year’s big prize — an AllEarth Renewables Solar Tracker.
While every school came together to promote more efficient ways to get to school, Way to Go! organizers are pleased to recognize our top performers. A big congratulations to this year’s winning schools:
  • Winner of the AllEarth Renewables Solar Tracker – Hartland Elementary
  • Winner of the Local Motion Bike Racks – Twinfield US #33
  • Winner of the Carbon Cup – Isle La Motte Elementary
  • Carbon-Cutting Leader Trophies for Overall Participation:
    • Best Rural School – Isle La Motte Elementary
    • Best City School – Northwest Primary School
    • Best Bus Ridership – Concord Grade/Middle School
    • Best Walkers, Bikers & Rollers – Isle La Motte Elementary
