There is bussing home for after school practices/activities
that end at 4:30 pm except on Fridays

IMPORTANT DATES


SEPTEMBER
PreK and Kindergarteners and Family representatives: First (HALF) Day of School. Thursday, September 6th. 8:30 to 10:15 AM. A family member should attend with each student. Thank you. The first full day of school will be Friday, September 7th.

Pre-K Cottage (Part Time Sessions) Orientation Schedule:
Thursday, September 6th.
12:00 - 1:00 PM Morning Session Orientation (Meet at the cottage)
1:30 - 2:30 PM Afternoon Session Orientation (Meet at the cottage)
The first "official" day for these groups of kids will be Monday, Sept.10thThe morning session runs from 8:15 -10:45 AM and the afternoon runs from 11:15 AM - 2:00 PM

Team USA Parent Night
Tuesday, September 11th. 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Location: Team USA Classrooms

Everyone: Walking Wednesday
Wednesday, September 12th. 6:45 to 7:30 AM.  Link to Map and Route Times.  PreK and K walking students can arrive with the older kids and spend time in Ms. Walsh's room until the other PreK/K kids arrive.

Everyone: St. Albans City School Open House
Thursday, September 27th. 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Locations: Library, Large Gym, Small Gym

Kindergarten Navigators/Dreamers/Adventurers: Field Trip to Hackett’s Orchard
Friday, September 28th. 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Transportation: Bus

EVENTS AND NOTICES


SCHOOL PHONE SYSTEM
As you may have already discovered, St. Albans City School's new phone system is not operating flawlessly. Thank you for your patience as we work daily to overcome problems that crop up.
Be aware that only the main school number (802-527-0565) remains the same. All the other school numbers you may have called previously have changed. Please use the main number to connect with the person or group you need to reach. 802-527-0565







Renaissance wants your compost!
The Renaissance Community is collecting compost from all classroom compost buckets. We will be using the compost to make nutrient rich soil for our school gardens. 

Where: The big buckets in the Renaissance hallway outside of A-16.

When: Any time during the school day.

How: Empty your compost buckets into the big buckets and take your compost buckets back with you.

What: Breakfast and snack compost except for dairy and meat products. We cannot accept compost that has any trash in it except for brown paper towels.

NEW YOUTH ICE HOCKEY PROGRAM STARTING
A program for people ages 4-19 is looking for participants. LINK TO SITE WITH MORE INFORMATION. Note: There is a fee associated with the program. Register now if interested.









Are you considering participating in one of our 
SETDA award activities?

We encourage all students in our school to apply to participate in one or all of the following activities:
  1. Film and produce a video of our school to send down to the National Conference.
  2. Attend and speak at the National SETDA conference in Washington DC from November 4-6.
  3. Plan and participate in a world wide teacher Webinar and tell others about how we use technology to leverage education in our school. 
Remember in order to apply you have to complete the following pieces of information:
  • Application Form (Also found in the Front Lobby)
  • Letter OR Video explaining why you are the best candidate to represent our school.
  • Something in your e-portfolio that demonstrates effective reflection on quality work.
These are due by the end of the day Friday, September 7. Please place in Joan's Cavallo's mailbox outside of her door. Videos can be put in drive and shared with Mrs. Borst, gborst@maplerun.org.

Do you need help?
Please join Ms. Bertucci and Mrs. Borst in the Makerspace during the times below for any help you may need with pieces or parts of your applications. We can even just check it and make sure you have all of your parts or help you record your video!

Tuesday (9/4):  7:30-8:30 & 1-2:30
Wednesday (9/5): 7:30-8:30 & 10-11:15

MILITARY GUEST IN TEAM USA
Airforce Captain Michael Lamb, son of Family and Consumer Science teacher, Ms. Mary Ellen Lamb, came to talk about his career and deployment history with USA students. Captain Lamb went to St. Albans City School, BFA and Ithaca college. He is now the deputy chief of his squadron and an instructor for air battle management.










HALLWAY TRANSPORTATION
Ms. Nikel on the SACS taxi trike was seen making the rounds of the hallways with her fearless driver on Tuesday, September 4th.
