DISCOVERY FIELD TRIP TO HARD'ACK
Each year Team Discovery walks to Hard'ack to investigate its trails, visit the wolf monument and take a team picture on the overlook of the city. This year the team walked the Hard'ack ridgeline and noticed some names and dates from the 1800s carved into the rock. The kids really enjoyed the snack and lunch times held at the Governer's mansion park at the top of Congress Street. The whole trip took about 3 1/2 hours.  LINK TO 81 PICTURES taken by Mr. Craib and several students.

October is Kale Celebration Month

In search of a leafy green packed with nutrients that promote well-being and prevent a range or health concerns? Look no further than superfood kale. Dense with fiber, antioxidants, calcium, and vitamins A, C, and K, a diet of kale can help boost your immune system, and promote bone and heart health. Whether you're working with curly kale, dinosaur kale, or purple kale, there are lots of ways to integrate kale into your recipes. Throw it in a smoothie, saute it, or massage it into a salad! It's hard to go wrong with this nutritious green.

WEATHER

It will feel cold outside today. Nevertheless, it should be dry enough to go outside and get some exercise.

Mini Metro Basketball
Tryouts
Basketball, Ball, Sports ...

In short, the Mini Metro League is a supplemental league to your school league. Meaning, you can and are expected to play both. Where the two differ is in the competition. Historically, Mini Metro has been a league designed to give our most competitive players a chance to play against equally competitive players from around the state. Having said that, we are holding tryouts for boys in 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. All tryouts will be held at BFA St. Albans. Please make sure to stay at the gym for a few minutes at the beginning of the first night for more information.

Tryouts:
Grades 5/6 :  Sunday, October 6th 4:30-6:00
Grades 7/8 :  Sunday, October 6th 6:00-8:00

St. Albans City School continues
with the 50th Birthday Celebration

In 1970 Mrs. Lamb was a 7th-grade student here at City School. She remembers a time capsule being placed behind the 1968 stone during the school dedication ceremony. After some research, we did confirm there is something behind the 1968 stone.

We will be removing the time capsule this fall. The contents will be revealed 50 years later during Unified Arts Night on February 20, 2020. Put the date on your calendar and join us for UA night and more 50th Birthday celebrations!
