PICTURES & REPORTS

CAN YOU GUESS WHO THIS STAFF MEMBER IS?

GRAND CHAMPIONS!!!

VISION TESTING
We are grateful to the Enosburg Lion's Club staff members who came to St. Albans City School and tested almost every one of our 800 students. They used a special camera to almost instantaneously and painlessly evaluate each student's vision. The equipment is far more accurate for vision testing than the old eye chart system previously used. This relatively new process helped our students determine the students who will benefit from further eye health evaluation. 2-6-2020. LINK TO 3 PICTURES

NAVIGATORS OWL PELLETS
Ms. Stanton had her students dissect dried and sanitized owl pellets. These pellets are the regurgitated remains of owl meals including the bones of voles, mice or small birds. The students matched the bones they found in the pellets with those on a chart to determine what their owl had eaten. This was a forensic science lesson designed for tiny students. 2-5-2020.  LINK TO 16 PICTURES from Ms. Stanton.

LOCAL BEEF MONTH
Local beef will be served twice per week during February. Check out this LINK TO A 3.5 MINUTE VIDEO about where our beef comes from. We visited the Choiniere family farm in 2016 and filmed their healthy dairy and beef cows.

This month we have an all-new Vermont Harvest of the Month crop...beef! All beef products come from different parts of a cow, and it is a great source of high-quality protein and nutrients, particularly iron. Cows are native to India but spread to China, Africa, and Europe where they were then brought to America by European explorers in 1493. Now, cows can be found all over the globe in many different types of cuisine. The United States produces about 20% of the world's beef making them the largest producer in the world followed by Brazil, Europe, and China. Check out this story about the rising success of beef production right here in Vermont.
