ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, MAY 8th

STUDENT PLACEMENT INPUT FORMS

On Tuesday we mailed placement input forms to families of students in kindergarten going into first grade, third grade going into fourth grade, and sixth grade going into seventh grade. We included a stamped self-addressed envelope so that it will be convenient for families to get them back to us. We are hoping to have them back by Monday the 11th.

PICTURES FROM FAMILIES AND FROM SCHOOL

MEAL PREPARATION AND DELIVERY
Ms. Trainer shared a few photos of the Abbey staff and MRUSD volunteers preparing, packaging, and delivering meals on Thursday 5-7-2020. It is a massive job and they are doing it beautifully.

RIVER FIELD TRIP
This Dreamers, Imagination and Voyagers family explored the old Red Mill River in Jericho. They shared their pictures of the experience with us.

PAINT MARBLING
Interesting paint marbling artwork from the same family that explored the Red Mill River above. There are many videos and websites on the internet explaining how to do this kind of artwork.

NATURE ART
This Travelers student was inspired by Ms. Haberman's bingo board Nature Art lesson. She went out into her yard and created this girl vampire image with found natural items.

MAKER ARTIST
When this 4th Grade Discovery student needs a break from online computer learning, he gets creative as a maker and artist!

HOMEMADE SHIELD AND DOG TREATS
This 3rd Grade Imagination student made a cool shield and baked some all-natural treats for his dog.

RENAISSANCE THURSDAY MEETING THEME
Cool sunglasses.

OBSERVING NATURE
The first picture is of an Explorers 1st grade student observing new growth on a bush during a walk. Another is of her doing some online work.

TAKING A WALK
Sent in by the Brooks family.

4th GRADE TRIUMPH STUDENT'S SUNDIAL
Made on an old stump behind his house.

RENAISSANCE 8TH GRADER'S PHOTO ALBUM
Over the last two years, one of the Renaissance students has been using her camera to take pictures of scenes around her home and in nature. She has been exploring composition and lighting to produce interesting photographs. LINK TO HER PHOTO PORTFOLIO.

She answered some questions asked about her photography:
1. The camera I am using is a Samsung WB1100F 16.22MP or Samsung WB1100F 16.2MP CCD Smart WiFi & NFC Digital Camera - Red
2. I take pictures because I have always wanted to be a photographer. I like using a camera to make my own art with the things I see.
3. I'm interested in photography because it's calming.
4. It is something I want to be doing seriously in the future.
5. I am teaching myself how to do photography.

6. I am learning how to use filters and how to edit the pictures I take as well. My camera is not the greatest but my family is saving money to buy a better one.

SPIRIT WEEK
This is the time of year where St. Albans City School often has spirit week celebrations. Mr. Brown, from the Bridges community, put out a call for spirit pictures on Facebook this week. His suggestion was for Monday to be crazy hair/hat day.  Tuesday, generation day 60's 70's etc., Wednesday is sports day, Thursday is favorite charity, Friday is Essential worker day.
