ANNOUNCEMENTS - JUNE 23rd

SUMMER PROGRAMMING AND MEALS LETTER

FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Dear Families,

Every Summer we host Summer School, Open Doors and Summer Meal Sites. This summer we are trying to continue some access to these resources. Working within strict COVID-19 guidelines, we will provide a very limited summer offering. Details will be out by Thursday for Summer School and Open Doors, and signups will be available at 8:00 am Friday morning through a Google Form posted on Daily Announcements. We will have to do this as first come first served. While our offerings are very limited, this is a learning experience for all of us and a summer opportunity for some students.

Our summer programs will be offered using Step II guidance from the Vermont Agency of Education and Department of Health. This will include temperature check, health checklist, masks, social distancing and handwashing. These guidelines are designed to allow for in person activities while managing the spread of the disease. There will be no buses to and from school, and walking school buses will be provided within a mile of the school. Drop off/ Pick up is welcome, yet there are no visitors allowed into the school. While these guidelines are strict, they are the guidance we are being given at this point for the start of school. Summer gives us an opportunity to better understand them with very small numbers of students.

All programs will be one to two weeks long. They will run Monday through Thursday. Each program will be designed for specific grade levels from 1st to 8th. Each will include breakfast and lunch.

Summer Food Service will be the one Program that we can expand this summer. Students do not have to eat on site, in fact they cannot eat on site, unless in a program. This summer we can offer pickup each day. The meal will include a lunch for the day and breakfast for the next day. Children do not need to be present to get the meal. Parents can pick up meals for their family and all children, up to age 18, are eligible. Summer Food Service will begin on July 6, 2020. We have expanded the number of pick up sites.  A Summer Meal Pick Up Sites Map will be available later this week to find the site closest to you.

We will continue to keep you updated here in Daily Announcements.

Have a wonderful summer,

Joan and Stacie
