CHICKEN COOP UPDATE AND GUIDELINES When school is not in session, we respectfully ask everyone to please stay out of the coop and not touch the chickens. We want the chickens to be well cared for and safe. With Adult Supervision: 1. Students may go into the run (metal cage part) of the coop 2. Students may pick up or handle the chickens being careful to have their hands or arms over the wings of the chickens 3. Students should NOT PUT THEIR HEADS AND BODIES IN THE WOODEN PART OF THE COOP for sanitary reasons. 4. Students may feed the chickens leftover snacks and lunch that would be composted especially vegetables and fruit (not citrus) 5. If students notice that the water jug is empty, they may fill it using the big water reservoirs over by the garden 6. Mr. Rouleau will take care of feeding the chickens their regular food later in the day as food is a useful way to get them back in the coop. 7. Either Ms. Lumbra or Mr. Rouleau will open the coop early or mid-morning each day 7. If the coop is closed, please leave it closed as it likely because there is a funeral going on in the cemetery and we don't want them out when that is going on. 8. ANY STUDENTS WHO HANDLE THE CHICKENS MUST USE HAND SANITIZER AFTERWARDS. Let Mr. Rouleau know if the sanitizer dispenser at the coop is getting low. |
