PICTURES & NEWS

INVESTIGATORS 2ND GRADE - MUIR

Addition and subtraction strategies were the focus of Mr. Muir’s classroom at 8:30 on Tuesday morning. His students were photographed doing some calculations after they had observed a variety of methods for solving the kinds of problems presented to them. Link to 30 Pictures.

USA SCIENCE LESSON - ROULEAU

Mr. Rouleau used toy cars, popsicle sticks, glue, tape, plastic cups, cardboard ramps and meter sticks to create a laboratory experience about potential and kinetic energy. In a nutshell, students released tiny metal cars down sloping ramps to the smooth floor surface below. Once on the floor, the cars encountered tiny plastic cups which they pushed across the floor for some distance depending on the weight of the cars. Students performed multiple tests of how far the unweighted or weighted cars pushed the cup. Metal washers taped to the cars added mass and more washers were added in a systematic manner. The students gathered the distance data at each weight and then bar graphed their findings to see how the potential and kinetic energy of their cars changed with increased mass. This was a fun way of demonstrating some basic principles of physics. 1-19-2021.  Link to 22 Pictures.

RENAISSANCE - SNOW TUBING

Conditions were foggy and fast. 1-15-2021. Riders were able to coast across the whole width of soccer field below the sledding hill. Mr. Allen was in the midst of the sledders challenging them to see who was faster or who could coast the furthest.  Link to 26 pictures.

VIDEO: SNOW TUBING WITH MS JARVIS

On Friday, 1-15-2021, the sledding conditions were excellent for traveling long distances on the snow tubes. Ms. Jarvis captured a few seconds of what it was like during her PE class. Link to 28-second long video.
