U.S. SENATOR, PATRICK LEAHY’S VIRTUAL VISIT TO ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL

Seventh and eighth graders from teams Renaissance and USA had the privilege of meeting with Senator Leahy for an hour to hear his responses to their questions on Friday 3-19-2021. Senator Leahy was between other meetings in Washington D.C. when he met with our students. There were 21 students who were prepared to ask questions and 17 of them had a chance to hear his responses to their queries in the one hour allotted before his departure. Senator Leahy was impressed by the caliber of the questions and because of the professional way they handled themselves. He stated that he feels confident that our students will be leaders in our state in the years ahead. Link to 35 Pictures.

Summary of the Questions and Answers from the zoom meeting

IMAGINATION 2ND GRADE ART - COSTANTINO

Mr. Costantino inspired students to draw huge flowers with examples of paintings by Georgia O’Keefe in the 20th Century.  The Imagination students were asked to first outline a flower that filled their pages and then color their drawings in with brilliant pastel crayons. 3-18-2021.  Link to 25 Pictures.

OPEN DOORS MINECRAFT - CAMERON-MUSCENTE

This afterschool learning experience remains incredibly popular at St. Albans City School year after year. Ms. Cameron-Muscente is one of those rare adults who is willing to become an expert in a video game popular with elementary and middle school students. She advises, guides, and celebrates students who are often experts in the games themselves. Being part of a Minecraft class is usually socially bonding and affirming for students in what is often an independent experience.

TRIUMPH
Team Triumph had a guest boater at recess.
