VERMONT GOLDEN DOME BOOK AWARD - vote for your favorite books

Have you wondered what happened to the DCF Books this year?!  Well, look no further!  The Vermont Golden Dome Book Award* (formerly the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Book Award) was created to honor excellence in children's literature. Each year since 1957, Vermont students in grades four through eight have selected their favorite book from a list of nominees. It is recommended that students read at least five of the year's nominated titles before voting.

Our SACS library has multiple copies of most of the books on this year’s list, so be sure to check them out today!  Voting takes place this spring, beginning April 30th and ending May 28th. We will have a virtual celebration to vote and discuss all of the books we have been reading this year!  Use this link to email Mrs. Levine and let her know that you would like to participate, connect, and vote for your favorite Vermont Golden Dome Book Award nominee!

PICTURES

DISCOVERY 4TH GRADE 3D ART - CHEROUNY

Using pencils, sharpie pens, and bright coloring markers, students created artwork that appeared to be three-dimensional in form. Ms. Cherouny encouraged bold work and the students were producing just that. 3-29-2021. Link to 17 Pictures

RENAISSANCE SCIENCE - LOUCY

Being able to interpret data through graphs is a fundamental skill Ms. Loucy is building in her 7th and 8th-grade students. In this situation, students were taking data in tide tables and graphing the information to better understand what it meant. 3-29-2021. Link to 16 Pictures.

TRIUMPH RECESS - MARRIN
Here is a picture of Triumph students playing Bocce Ball on a windy and cool Monday. They have been enjoying playing this game daily over the last week. 3-29-2021

RENAISSANCE MATH - JETTER

The 8th graders in Mr. Jetter's class were working on a problem that involved algebra when this photo was taken. They first had to try to solve the problem by themselves and then they each discussed their math strategies with neighboring students. 3-29-2021

OUTDOOR CO-ED VOLLEYBALL

We are going to offer outdoor volleyball as a co-ed sport for 5th-8th graders this Spring. please email Ms. Stephanie Beck-Bryant at sbeck@maplerun.org if you are interested in participating.
