ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WED, SEPTEMBER 22nd

COVID Update

September 21, 2021

Dear St. Albans City School Families,

Today we received information indicating that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID 19.  As part of our Health and Safety measures, we are having all unvaccinated students who may have been in close contact with this individual remain home until all quarantining requirements have been met.

We have communicated with the affected students/staff via email or phone about their quarantine requirements.  If you have not been contacted you or your children are not a close contact and you do not need to quarantine at this time.

We encourage all staff, students, and families to follow all the necessary COVID guidelines (wearing masks, staying home when sick, physical distancing, and handwashing) and communicate with one of our nurses if you or your children might have symptoms or have tested positive with COVID-19.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support.

Joan and Stacie

BIO-BLITZ

Mr. Rouleau from St. Albans City School (SACS), and Ms. Magnan from Bellows Free Academy (BFA) helped organize students’ participation in the district Bio Blitz this week. The goal of the Bio-Blitz is to photograph and identify over 1000 living things, plants, bugs, birds etc. Six naturalists, including Brigit Butler -the bird diva, came to SACS to work with students from grades 4-8 on Tuesday. They will return for more instruction on Thursday. Classroom groups were divided into smaller clusters, each lead by a naturalist, i.e. someone who has knowledge of many life forms. They scattered around the property looking mostly at plants but also a variety of bugs and birds. Every sighting of interest was photographed and entered into an app called inaturalist. This app analyzes the photos and helps identify the contents. Here are a sample of photos taken of their explorations.  Link to 59 Pictures.
