VERMONT FUR COVERED ANIMALS STUDIES

Students in all the 4-6th grade learning communities are learning about Vermont fur-covered Vermont animal species. They are taking turns examining hands-on exhibits that make these wild animals more vivid for their education. There are real animal pelts, rubberized but realistic animal scat (poop), and rubberized foot pads for species like, coyotes, skunks, martins, fisher cats, beaver and more.

TRIUMPH ANIMAL PELTS

Students learned about the management of fur animals around the state of Vermont. Certain species that have been wiped out in previous centuries have been reintroduced (beavers, for example) and over-abundant species are culled so that more fragile species can survive. They had a chance to see the pelts/skins of a wide variety of native fur-bearing animals. Link to 14 Pictures

PICTURES FROM THE VOYAGERS ANIMAL SCAT STUDY will be in the announcements on Wednesday.

TRASH PICKUP
These two 5th grade soccer players picked up the fields prior to their game on Friday 10-1-2021. Anyone who has been outside lately has noticed that lots of paper masks are abandoned around the property. It is great to see students interested in tackling the trash issue.

YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR SURVEY (YRBS) Grades 6-8

Dear Caregivers:

Our school is taking part in the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). This was developed in 1991 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is sponsored by the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education. The YRBS gathers information about health risk behaviors of 6th through 12th-grade students. Schools, communities, and state agencies will use the results of the survey to evaluate programs, plan new programs, and secure future funding. We will administer the survey to our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students on October 13, 2021, and October 14, 2021. If you would like to learn more about the survey or see a copy it is available to view here. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please complete the opt-out form and return it to Kristen Hersey in the School Counselor’s Office. Copies of the opt-out form were mailed home and are also available to download HERE. Forms must be returned by October 12, 2021.

NEED TO UPDATE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION?

To update, let us know by calling the school at 802-527-0565 and we will send you a new verification form. Please remember to sign the form so that we can make the change in our system.
