VAN WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT

Dave from Crash Auto came to St. Albans City School and replaced a cracked windshield in the school van. We had to wait patiently for almost two months for the glass to arrive and be installed thanks to supply chain issues. Pictures and a video clip show the process for those interested in seeing what he did. Dave has been installing windshields for almost 20 years and said it is a good way to make a living. He said that there are many more jobs in glass replacement than there are willing workers.

VOYAGERS STUDYING ANIMAL SCAT - BASHAW

This was a perfect project for students this age, studying animal scat/poop -well, not real poop, just very realistic rubberized replicas of animal poop. Students had to carefully study their different piles of poop and determine which animal they might have come from. They had photos of real scat and descriptions of the animal that left them to make their choices. Ms. Bashaw supervised as they rotated from one station of poop piles to another. Other 4-6 classrooms are doing the same thing. Link to 18 Pictures.

WIND INSTRUMENT EXPLORATION - KELLY

Mr. Kelly guided young students in their first use of clarinets. It takes plenty of practice to make nice sounds. This lesson took place under the big tent outside of the school building. October 5th. 2021. Link to 9 Pictures.

DREAMERS KINDERGARTEN PE WITH MS. WIGHT - DUPONT

Ms. Wight had students working on core body fitness without even realizing it. Using boards with rollers she had students propel themselves out to and around cones in the center of the gym. They did this on their bellies, then siting upright or backward as they moved through their out-and-back courses. Link to 15 Pictures. 10-4-2021

YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR SURVEY (YRBS) Grades 6-8

Dear Caregivers:

Our school is taking part in the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). This was developed in 1991 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is sponsored by the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education. The YRBS gathers information about health risk behaviors of 6th through 12th-grade students. Schools, communities, and state agencies will use the results of the survey to evaluate programs, plan new programs, and secure future funding. We will administer the survey to our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students on October 13, 2021, and October 14, 2021. If you would like to learn more about the survey or see a copy it is available to view here. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please complete the opt-out form and return it to Kristen Hersey in the School Counselor’s Office. Copies of the opt-out form were mailed home and are also available to download HERE. Forms must be returned by October 12, 2021.
