PICTURES AND NEWS

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS & STAFF WHO BIKE TO SCHOOL

As you likely noticed, we have a bike repair stand located next to the flagpole in front of the school. The purpose of the stand is to provide tools for anyone to adjust brakes, tighten pedals to crank arms, raise or lower seats, take off tires etc. One of the most used components of the repair stand is the bicycle pump. It has been broken for a month and people who have tried to inflate tires lost more air than they added. A new pump head has been placed on the pump and the pump handle has been lubricated. It should be possible for you to easily pump up your tires now.

MAKERSPACE METAL WALL

Ms. Bertucci supervised four makerspace interns as they used magnetized letters, numbers and shapes to invite student creativity on the newly built metal wall in the library. 10-7-2021

USA CADET TRAINING - KITTELL

Team USA has a long history of recognizing the service of local military service members. Last year some students trained for a very formal ceremony to place wreaths on the graves of recently deceased former service members. This year, they will do the same. Those students who are interested have volunteered for cadet training by former drill sergeant, and current 7th and 8th grade teacher, Mr. Kittell. The pictures below show this year’s students as they learned how to form up quickly, how to stand properly, how to turn as one and how to march. The first day of learning went well as the students applied themselves with focus.  Link to 13 Pictures.

YOUTH RISK BEHAVIOR SURVEY (YRBS) Grades 6-8

Dear Caregivers:

Our school is taking part in the 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS). This was developed in 1991 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is sponsored by the Vermont Department of Health and Agency of Education. The YRBS gathers information about health risk behaviors of 6th through 12th-grade students. Schools, communities, and state agencies will use the results of the survey to evaluate programs, plan new programs, and secure future funding. We will administer the survey to our 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students on October 13, 2021, and October 14, 2021. If you would like to learn more about the survey or see a copy it is available to view here. If you do not want your child to participate in the survey, please complete the opt-out form and return it to Kristen Hersey in the School Counselor’s Office. Copies of the opt-out form were mailed home and are also available to download HERE. Forms must be returned by October 12, 2021.
