ADVENTURERS PreK/K (BORCH) WIND TUNNEL FLIGHT PROJECT

Ms. Darcie Rankin, from the Makerspace area, has been making the rounds to PreK, kindergarten and 1st grade classrooms. She is providing students with a chance to build things with paper that can fly. Her construction supplies include paper cups, coffee filters, tape, crayons, and scissors to assemble objects that can take flight in a wind tunnel. If their projects fail to work well on the first try, students have been getting a chance to revise their designs and try flight again.  Check out these Photos of the Construction process.

Check out this 3-minute video of the students flying their creations.

DISCOVERY 6TH GRADE ANIMAL ADAPTATIONS - MARRIN

Like the Voyagers team in Ms. Bashaw’s classrooms last week, students from Team Discovery showcased their learning about how animals adapt to their habitats. On Tuesday, November 23rd, students in Mr. Marrin’s 6th grade classroom gave final presentations of their work to their classmates. Their finished documents and pictures of their learning was posted in the Discovery hallway for the rest of the team to read and appreciate. Very nice work.  Link to 7 Pictures.

Operation Happiness

Organized by students on Team Renaissance

This year, as is traditional at this time of year, our school is participating in Operation Happiness. Operation Happiness is a food drive that our school has been a part of since 2013. The food collected by Operation Happiness is donated to people in need of our food, and it really helps them.

Our school is trying to raise 1,000 food items over our drive. The following items are what we need:

  • Dry pasta

  • Canned goods (vegetables, fruit, soups, canned meats, tuna, chicken etc)

  • Peanut butter

  • Jelly

  • Jars of sauce

  • Cereal

  • Baking mix (cornbread, brownies cake, quick bread)

  • Ramen Noodles

  • Baby Food

  • Boxed Meals (macaroni and cheese, hamburger helper, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, rice)

We ask that you donate food between November 29th to December 9th. If you bring food in, then give it to your teachers and the 8th-grade members of team Renaissance will collect it in the mornings! If we meet our goal of 1,000 donations we will have a schoolwide popcorn party!
