PICTURES

IMAGINATION 3RD GRADE WRITING - JOHNSON

Students in Ms. Johnson’s classroom shared their writing about their Halloween day experiences with their peers. Volunteers either read their work to the others or had Ms. Johnson do so for them. Their writing on this day was simply a rough draft of their story. Ms. Johnson asked for respectful suggestions to these writers about how to expand the writeups with more detailed information. Listeners wanted to know who students were with, where they went, and what they had expected for Halloween. This process gave everyone suggestions for ways to improve their stories in the next version of their work.  Link to 12 Pictures. 11-2-2021

A NOVEL SOLUTION FOR IN-CLASS MUSIC INSTRUCTION - CAMERON-MUSCENTE

This covid year, just like last year, has posed a real challenge for our music and art teachers. Rather than students traveling to their teachers’ specialized learning spaces, these teachers now push carts of teaching supplies into classrooms. Ms. Cameron-Muscente finally found a cart suitable for her needs - meaning the ability to transport a large array of learning materials for the many age groups she works with. The cart was designed to hold sets of mechanical wrenches and drivers. Now it contains small instruments and supplies that stimulate students’ imaginations during her classes. She is pleased with it.

EXPLORERS 1ST GRADE MUSIC - CAMERON-MUSCENTE

Ms. Cameron-Muscente always brings joy and imagination to her classroom groups. The pictures collected during this music class showcase three of her activities. In the first, children danced and played with colorful scarves while music guided their movements. In the next activity, children imagined working in a kitchen to create a special food item. They did hand and body movements to music - adding spice, chopping, cutting, mixing, pouring, tasting, and pronouncing excellent. In the last, they danced and then held themselves still like statues many times as the music played. Link to 46 Pictures.

ADVENTURERS KINDERGARTEN WRITING - FARRELL

These kindergarteners were learning the basics of writing from Ms. Farrell. She provided students with a way to “write” a story using pictures and their best effort to label the items it contained. They were ready and able to succeed at the task. Link to 32 Pictures. 1102-2021
