COVID Update November 3rd, 2021 Positive COVID Case Today Today we had another positive COVID case. We are now a Test to Stay District, and that allows us to operate under the new guidance. In addition to our students being able to attend school if they test negative each morning, we do not need to send everyone home immediately, just those that are positive or have symptoms. The quarantine from school for the remainder of that pod starts the next morning. This is helpful to families and our staff. The students are even allowed to be on the bus to go home. The one difference on the bus is that they should only be in the same seat as those in their household. Our new bus requirements are that we now only have to quarantine the students/staff in the same seat on the bus if one tests positive. We just wanted to make sure that we were keeping everyone up to date and explaining the new processes we have. At this point, all people impacted have been contacted. We will always contact families so that they can choose to pick up their child, we just don’t have to require that on the first day. We have communicated with the affected students/staff via email or phone and a letter with the details about their quarantine requirements. If you have not been contacted, you or your children are not a close contact and you do not need to quarantine at this time.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support. Joan and Stacie |

PICTURES & NEWS ELKS HOOP SHOOT COMPETITION On Saturday, December 11th there will be a basketball shootout held at BFA starting at 9:00 AM. The top performers in November from physical education classes around Franklin County will meet in the BFA gym to determine who are the best free-throw shooters within three different age groups: 8-9 year-olds, 10-11 year-olds, and 12-13 year-olds. Participation lists will be determined by November 26th. Ms. Jarvis and Mr. Branon have been working on the free-throw skills of their students and testing them for accuracy. These photos are of 6th grade Discovery students on one side of the gym and 5th-grade Incredibles students on the other side of the gym making shots. They were taken on Wednesday 11-3-2021. Link to 42 Pictures. WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS One hundred and thirteen students and 16 adults walked or biked into school on Wednesday, November 3rd. It was dark and raining lightly as everyone made their way towards school. The total of 129 walkers/bikers is impressive and a testimony to the hardiness of members of our school community. Once again, Renaissance held the day’s participation record. USA and Voyagers were also outstanding on Walking Wednesday. The general participation trend is of more walkers/bikers as the learning communities get older in age. This finding makes sense as families feel more comfortable letting their students brave the traffic and weather as they get beyond the age of 10. TWINS
7th & 8th GRADE BAND PRACTICE This group of musicians has made amazing progress in the last few months with hard work and the guidance of Mr. Kelly. Link to 10 Pictures. NAVIGATORS KINDERGARTEN - LAWYER Ms. Lawyer & Ms. Asato-Ditch shared pictures of their students from November 2nd, 2021. Link to 16 Pictures. VOYAGERS WACKY WEDNESDAY 11-3-2021 Just before departure for the school day, the three Voyagers classrooms competed with each other to finish a cup stacking challenge. Since the classrooms cannot mix, each classroom had on a computer zoom meeting showing the three classrooms in real-time. That way they could watch each other compete. The cheering in each room and into the hallway was LOUD. It was obvious by the enthusiasm exhibited that this community has a lot of team spirit. |
