BICYCLE SAFETY & RIDING EXPECTATIONS

Our school celebrates students who bicycle or walk to school. It is good for students’ health and the environment. How to ride to school safely is what needs to be discussed. These are the expectations:

Ride on the sidewalks going to school except on downtown Main Street and along Lake Street. Shoppers are not expecting to see bikers on those sidewalks and it is unsafe for everyone. The police are okay with you riding on most sidewalks and would prefer to see you there as you ride to school.

Walkers have the right-of-way on sidewalks so politely warn them that you are coming and ride around them carefully on the grass.

If you ride on the road, then you have to follow the same traffic rules that cars are required to. Ride on the right side of the road. Come to a stop at crossings.  Signal if you plan to turn left or right.

Be polite to walkers and drivers. And, they need to be polite to you.

Using bike helmets is a wise way to keep your head health protected.

PICTURES

RENAISSANCE 8TH GRADE ART (LOUCY’S ROOM) - MONTGOMERY

Students worked on images of fruit and vegetables using vividly colored drawing implements. Since the beginning of school this year, they had been learning about sizing their images to fit the page, shading, coloring choices, smudging and other art techniques to produce impressive drawings. In Thursday’s work, they utilized all of their recently gained knowledge to produce fine drawings. Most of the students will work on backgrounds for their images in the next art class session. 11-4-2021. Link to 20 Pictures.

RENAISSANCE 8TH GRADE ART (LOVELETTE’S ROOM) - MARTINSON

Students were asked to use cardboard rolls to make impressive 3-D art pieces. The rolls were chopped into equally sized rings. These were shaped and glued into patterns on top of sheets of paper. In another class, these patterns will have colors added to them to make the artwork pop out visually.  Link to 32 Pictures. 11-4-2021

MAGNET MARBLE RUNS - BORST

Lots of small groups have spent time using the new makerspace magnet marble run wall. They use cardboard, pipe insulation, and more to make unique marble runs. Once a run is built, the builders test it out and fix design flaws. Check out these joyful images. Link to 20 Pictures provided by Instructor Borst. The pictures were taken in late October and early November.
