KEYBOARD TIME WITH MS. CAMERON MUSCENTE

For the last few years most music instruction has taken place in the classrooms throughout the school building. On Thursday, April 7th, the group pictured below got their first taste of music in the actual “music room”. During one portion of their time there, Ms. Cameron-Muscente settled students around the perimeter of the room at keyboards. Each student wore headphones so they could hear the music they were making while not disturbing others. Students seemed to be quite interested in experimenting with these instruments.

BOOKS TO EXPLORE IN OUR SCHOOL LIBRARY

Oh no! Beezer the Buzzard will be the sub while Mrs. Steele is away, and Kevin is going to be dead meat! When Mrs. Steele goes on an extended trip to Africa, Kevin knows he'll be stuck inside for every recess and have his desk moved to the front of the class. Mrs. Beezer just doesn't understand Kevin's problems with focusing and controlling his impulses. This charming chapter book takes a perceptive look at ADHD and the challenges it can present in school.

On the first day of summer camp, Julia stands up for another camper with autism who is being bullied, and the two become friends.

Matt’s autism doesn’t keep him from having fun! Even when he struggles in social situations, his friend is there to help him out. The two boys love playing sports watching movies, reading books, and talking about animals. By working together, a best friend’s understanding and compassion change Matt’s frustration into excitement. No matter where they go—from the basketball court to the playground swings to the neighborhood pool—the two friends enjoy spending time with each other.
