GREENUP DAY UPDATE - Directly from Mayor Tim Smith

We had about 100 people of all ages participate. Within the City we picked up 20 tires, filled one dump truck full with about 50 Green Up bags and one dump truck full of assorted other items: plastic, boards, pallets and lawn furniture. The most common items were plastic bottles and paper coffee cups.

TROUT UPDATE - ROULEAU

7th & 8th Grade Science teacher, Mr. Rouleau, reported that “The trout are growing bigger each week.  They are ready for release but we will hold onto them for another month or so and release them in early June.”  Link to 12-second trout swimming video.

GREEN STORMWATER INFRASTRUCTURE AND PRACTICES INFORMATIONAL NIGHT

Team USA students are preparing and hosting a Green Stormwater Infrastructure and Practices informational event for local residents and landowners at City School on May 12th from 6-7 pm in the school cafeteria.  The purpose of the event is for the students to put into practice and apply the concepts they have been working on in class learning about watersheds, lake and stream ecosystems, and stormwater.  They have learned how stormwater management impacts St. Albans Bay and will share that knowledge along with suggesting practices for supporting the overall health of the Bay.  The format will be that students will be set up around the cafeteria with informational booths for community members to visit and have discussions about/with.  All are welcome!
