PICTURES ORCHESTRA - CHARPENTIER Once again this year, Mr. Charpentier's St. Albans City School orchestra members put on a performance for a large audience, this time with even more impressive skills. All of them did wonderfully. Link to 31 Pictures. Link to Video (10 minutes, 48 seconds) CHORUS - CAMERON MUSCENTE The performance on Thursday evening (5-19-2022) was the first for our school chorus in several years and certainly the first for most of the students participating. Ms. Cameron Muscente battled through all kinds of obstacles to get the students ready for their chance to shine. The students were nervous but need not have been so. They did a beautiful and courageous job. It was a joy to see them all. Link to 44 Pictures. Plus, 48 More Chorus Pictures from Ms. Brooks. Link to Video (4 minutes, 10 seconds) of the chorus singing "Here Comes the Sun". Due to a photographer error, the other songs were not recorded. There is other video of the concert that will be shared in the coming days as that gets processed. TEAM USA’S TROPICAL FUN FRIDAY Many on the team wore Hawaiian clothing and flower necklaces. The weather was sunny and warm, a nice change from the previous day. TRAVELERS STORY PARTY - COX Ms Cox's class listened to the read aloud book, Because of Winn Dixie. They just LOVED the characters and the happy and sad story. So, to celebrate the end of the book, and finishing SBAC, her class had a Winn Dixie-themed party. Guests included the librarian in the book, Ms. Franny Block (Ms Cox’s mom) and Winn Dixie (Ms Cox's dog). Like the party in the book they had egg salad sandwiches, pickles and punch. The room was decorated like the party in the book too. The kids then got to watch the movie and compare its' similarities and differences to the book. It was a good time. 5TH GRADE LILAC WATER COLOR STUDY SAMPLES - MONTGOMERY Congratulations! Incredibles Teacher, Lauren Mangis. She delivered a healthy baby boy yesterday (5-19-2021)! BOOKS TO INVESTIGATE IN THE LIBRARY Harpreet Singh has a different color for every mood and occasion, from pink for dancing to bhangra beats to red for courage. He especially takes care with his patka—his turban—smoothing it out and making sure it always matches his outfit. But when Harpreet’s mom finds a new job in a snowy city and they have to move, all he wants is to be invisible. Will he ever feel a happy sunny yellow again? George Takei has captured hearts and minds worldwide with his captivating stage presence and outspoken commitment to equal rights. But long before he braved new frontiers in Star Trek, he woke up as a four-year-old boy to find his own birth country at war with his father’s—and their entire family forced from their home into an uncertain future. In a stunning graphic memoir, Takei revisits his haunting childhood in American concentration camps, as one of over 100,000 Japanese Americans imprisoned by the U.S. government during World War II. Experience the forces that shaped an American icon—and America itself—in this gripping tale of courage, country, loyalty, and love. |
