The trailer contains mountain bikes of all sizes and some of the basic supplies needed to maintain them as the trailer moves to various schools that applied for it. These pictures were taken of Voyagers making loops around the bus circle as they improved their bike handling skills. 5-23-2022. Link to 22 Photos. This little cork character wedding ceremony evolved organically and came from the students. They planned and executed the whole event. Link to Video (1 minute 48 seconds) EXPLORERS TWINS |
WALKING WEDNESDAY IS TOMORROW, May 25th This is the second to last Walking Wednesday of the school year. The last one is on June 8th. For those students who have accumulated 13 foot tags, show them to your teacher to arrange for your metal water bottle to be brought to your classroom.. Your teachers have a list of the people who have been walking regularly and signing in on Walking Wednesdays. Being on that list and your 13 tags is what you need for the bottle. |
OVERVIEW OF ANOTHER UNIFIED ARTS PROGRAM... ART Many students love having art as part of their learning experience here at St. Albans City School. You can see pictures of students doing art and samples of student art at this Link to 102 Photos. You can also hear from students that were interviewed about a range of art topics. Check out their comments in these short videos. Thank you to all 18 students who agreed to be interviewed regardless of whether or not their interview content ended up being used in these videos.
Here is why the school's three art teachers became art teachers: Ms. Megan Martinson I love to create. Teaching art gives me the ability to share my passion with students. Art is a universal language that people of all abilities can practice and understand. Sometimes students think that because they can't draw realistically that they aren't "good at art". Art is so much more than drawing or painting or sculpting. It is the process, the problem-solving, the willingness to try, and the ability to persevere. It is a way to build upon and improve on those transferable skills that they will use throughout their lifetime, no matter what they choose to do when they grow up. Mr. Alex Costantino Hello, I'm Mr. Costantino, or Mr. C. When I'm not here at SACS, I'm making art, mostly painting and making ceramic art on the pottery wheel. I teach art to share my love of art with young people. I want to share my joy of discovery and investigation that comes with tackling artistic problems. Ms. Ellen Montgomery When I was a child my favorite class was art. Each day was filled with paint, clay, pencils, pastels, colors, textures, and patterns. The positive atmosphere made me feel free and safe, and the creative process became an opportunity to express and breathe. The art room was a sacred space where I could explore my ideas and identity. I could ponder life and what I was learning in other classes, or simply escape the pressure of both for a while. The art room energized, inspired, and gave me a sense of purpose. I became an art educator to share the love I have for art with others. |
