PICTURES RENAISSANCE SCIENCE - LOUCY Being able to use a microscope is a very useful skill for a variety of science projects. When these pictures were taken, Ms. Loucy was taking the time to teach each student in her classroom the skills needed to operate basic microscopes. She had students cut out a printed alphabetical letter (an E) from document and then examine that tiny letter magnified hugely with a microscope. Students were able to see more than the inked letter. They were able to see the fibers in the paper. Ms. Loucy also brought in an onion so that students could cut off a layer to examine the cells within it. Ms. Loucy also had slides of numerous other cells and materials ready for examination. Microscopes illuminate the reality of a whole world invisible to our unmagnified eyes. Link to 16 Pictures. TRAVELERS 1ST GRADE ANATOMY LESSONS - CULLIGAN The first graders in our school are all learning about human anatomy. They have learned about the skeletal, muscular and digestive systems through project-based experiences that make studying anatomy truly fun. On Tuesday, 11-8-2022, the students in Ms. Culligan’s classroom took turns making an adult-sized poster showing blood flow around the body. While waiting their turn at this task, they practiced their writing skills on regular sheets of papers they had used to draw people their circulatory systems. Link to 24 Pictures. RENAISSANCE BASKETBALL PE - JARVIS AND ANDREWS The two PE teachers for 7th & 8th grades, Ms. Jarvis and Ms. Andrews, put the students through a variety of basketball handling drills. Often, the drill involved mild levels of competition to spice things up. Link to 31 Pictures. Link to 30-second video clip of a basketball tag game. STATE MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS - GRUDEV These pictures were overlooked in error when they were submitted over a week ago for the announcements. They show the runners who participated in a large gathering of elementary and middle school athletes competing in the state meet at Hard’ack at the end of the season.
