PICTURES VISION TESTING BY THE ENOSBURG FALLS LIONS CLUB The yearly testing of students’s vision at St. Albans City School started on Thursday, December 1st and will run through Friday the 2nd. Classroom groups of students filed upstairs and took turns entering the professional library where three Lions Club members assessed each child’s vision. The instrument used by the technicians, a spot vision screener, looks like a large camera. A student needs to look steadily at the front of the unit for a few seconds for accurate measurements to be taken. The results quickly determine if more elaborate eye measures are needed by a specialist. The lions club testing process takes about 1/6th of the time as the old eye chart evaluation method used a few years ago. Link to 13 Pictures of children being tested and waiting patiently in line. Adults were there to entertain them while they waited. Why do this testing? Up to 12 million students have some form of vision problem which, if detected early, can often lead to correction and cures. The spot testing equipment works on children as young as six months old.
