PICTURES MISCELLANEOUS PICTURES FROM AROUND THE SCHOOL This photo was taken of Mr. Frank Pelkey by a 1st grader on Team Imagination. These students worked on their wands in an early morning art-session on Friday. Students from 2nd Grade Investigators displayed their strength while doing handstands in Ms. Wight's little gym. Triumph 6th Grade students ate their lunch quickly before heading off to band practice. More Triumph Lunch Eaters. THE PRINCIPAL CANDIDATES WERE INTERVIEWED BY THE STAFF 1-12-2023 Teachers met with two of the three candidates on Thursday afternoon after school let out. Link to 5 Pictures. THE SCHOOL STORE The store is managed by the Voyagers as a real-life business and math-related project. It has proven extremely popular among students this year. They look forward to their scheduled turn to visit the store and are disappointed if the inventory runs low. Interestingly, in the recent student interviews with the principal candidates, one student asked how principal candidates would ensure that the store would not run out of popular items if they were hired. |
LOST AND FOUND There are a lot of clothes waiting to be retrieved by their owners. The clothing can be found as you enter the hallway just after coming through the front lobby. These clothes have been left at recess, P.E. in the gyms or elsewhere in the building. |
NOTICE TO 5th, 6th & 7th GRADERS ABOUT CROSS COUNTRY SKIING DURING P.E. Skiing lessons will begin on January 23rd if we still have enough snow on the soccer fields to do so. To join in, you will need to have a parent/guardian complete an informed consent form that will go to the P.E. instructors, Ms. Jarvis and Ms. Andrews. If the form has been misplaced, here is the link to the digital pdf. version of the consent form or the on-line version of the form can be filled in. This P.E. unit is a fantastic opportunity to get free experience cross country skiing - an excellent winter activity in Vermont. |

BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY Have you set a goal for yourself in the new year? January is a great time to make a resolution and this month we will be highlighting books in our library that focus on goal setting and growth. When young Greta learned of the climate crisis, she stopped talking. She couldn't understand why people in power were not doing anything to save our Earth. One day she started protesting outside the Swedish Parliament, creating the 'School Strike for Climate'. Soon, lots more young people joined her in a global movement that shook adults and politicians alike. She had found her voice and uses it to inspire humans to action with her powerful message: "No one is too small to make a difference." This inspiring book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the climate activist's life. Everyone knows that when Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. But what happened after? Caldecott Medalist Dan Santat's poignant tale follows Humpty Dumpty, an avid bird watcher whose favorite place to be is high up on the city wall―that is, until after his famous fall. Now terrified of heights, Humpty can longer do many of the things he loves most. Will he summon the courage to face his fear? |
