SUPPLY BUS
      On Wednesday, May 27 starting at 10:30 SACS staff will be delivering school supplies to every student Pre K- 8. Please be at your bus stop for this special delivery. Included with the supplies will be a Raider coloring contest sheet. Raider is demonstrating hand washing thanks to Ms. Martison’s artwork. Color as you would like, take a picture, add your name and your Learning Community at the top and send it to Mr. Mitch at mcraib@maplerun.org. Then look for your Raider to be featured in Daily Announcements. Winners will be chosen from those submissions, but all artwork will be displayed. Show your Raider Strong spirit by participating! UPDATE Staff members have been busily assembling the bags of school supplies to be delivered on Wednesday 5-27-2020. They are ready to go. Thank you for being at your bus stop ready to receive your bag on Wednesday.

SACS EMBRYOLOGY PROJECT UPDATE
Kindergarten teacher, Ms. Sally Lawyer reported on Monday that seven chicks had hatched already.
Assistant Principal, Ms. Stacie Rouleau, recorded one of the chicks hatching and her husband, Team USA teacher, Mr. Rouleau assembled a video we could watch.

ROCKETSHIP An 2nd Grade Explorers student is shown in her homemade rocket ship, ready to blast off with nasa tomorrow!  BUILDING A SWINGSET This Explorers 2nd-grader has been working on building her new swing set for the past week with her dad, sister and friends.
FISHING A team USA student catching a big one over the weekend while enjoying fishing with her family.  NESTING BOXES This Renaissance 8th grader has been hard at work over the long weekend. In this, a "pet project" he is constructing sixteen nesting boxes for the new chickens and ducks he ordered as part of his outdoor learning and future enterprise, providing eggs for locals to enjoy when they don't always have access to good foods.

Principal Cavallo led a zoom meeting for families of St. Albans City School students on Tuesday evening 5-19-2020. During the meeting, she shared findings from a recently conducted survey of SACS families about distance learning. The slide show from that meeting summarizes the content of what was learned and is shared as a PDF document here.

Since the in-school part of the year ended somewhat abruptly, we realize that students may still have library materials that they no longer need or have finished reading. If you wish to return them, we urge you to drop them by the school. If your student is ready to check out other books, the online catalog can be accessed here (https://sacslibrary.follettdestiny.com/common/welcome.jsp?context=saas20_4448088) or on the City School webpage under Family Resources. If you prefer, I am happy to help find resources and/or give recommendations of enjoyable literature. I’ve had the privilege to get to know most of our students, and so may be able to find some books particularly tailored to their taste.
