ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR TUESDAY, MAY 5th
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dear St. Albans City School Families,
We are so thankful for your patience and support as we have transitioned to on-line learning. This is not easy for any of us. We realize how much effort this requires of our families. We want to do what we can to support you and have you feel confident in supporting your children. Every week we are meeting in many configurations to see what we can do to improve our work. We would like to ask you to give us some feedback so that we can continue to grow and learn in this new environment. This link (Click Here) will take you to a short survey where you can tell us how things are going in your home, and how we might be able to better support your family. The survey will be open until Friday May 8th.
Thank you for taking some time to give us feedback.

LOOKING FOR WALKING WEDNESDAY PICTURES DURING THIS MAY
Normally we have school-organized Walking Wednesdays each week of May. While we can’t hold these official walks while schooling takes place at home, we do encourage finding some way to get out and walk and bike each day and especially on Wednesdays. Please send in pictures of students/staff walking and biking safely so that they can be posted each week this month. Send to mcraib@maplerun.org

STAY-AT-HOME CAMPING TRIP
One of our Walking Wednesday leaders, and substitute teacher, Mr. Clarence, and his St. Albans City School son, took a few night pictures with their drone (top two pictures). They also had a bonfire. Included are pictures of their playhouse that was built a few years ago. They cleaned it out and had a stay-at-home camping trip. On their adventure, they used a tiny projector to show movies in the playhouse.
PHOTOS FROM A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES
Discovery 5th Grade Student. The photo on the fallen tree was taken on a hike at Hard’ack, the 2nd was from a bike ride, the 3rd was from his video saxophone lesson with Mr Kelly, the 4th is his sign to all of his teachers wishing them a happy National teachers Day, and the last one is enjoying a popsicle down at St Albans Bay.
SPIRIT WEEK
This is the time of year where St. Albans City School often has spirit week celebrations. Mr. Brown, from the Bridges community, put out a call for spirit pictures on Facebook this week. His suggestion was for Monday to be crazy hair/hat day. Tuesday, generation day 60's 70's etc., Wednesday is sports day, Thursday is favorite charity, Friday is Essential worker day. Here is his family crazy hair picture.
This Kaleidoscope instructor, Ms. McDaniel, sent a picture of herself on crazy hair day. Any other spirit day/week pictures from students and staff are welcome here.
VIRTUAL FIELD TRIPS
The St. Albans City School tech team and other teachers have been working to assemble lists of all kinds of wonderful virtual field trips. A few lists will be shared each day in the announcements. For today...
CHECK OUT THE UNIFIED ARTS BINGO BOARDS
A few items from the Unified Arts educational programming will be highlighted in the announcements each day.
Families, if you are looking for something fun for students to do, you might want to check out the UA Bingo Board web pages. They look like this:
HARVEST OF THE MONTH
St. Albans City School families and staff members, if you have anything positive to share on the announcements that show what students and adults are doing to promote learning and a sense of community in this time of uncertainty, then please send it on to Mr. Craib at mcraib@maplerun.org. Please add a short descriptive note to go with your content. It would also be helpful if you wrote that you are providing consent to share your images, video clips, artwork, etc... Thank you. STUDENT BIRTHDAYS Families, feel free to share a picture (or provide permission for the school to find a picture) to go next to a birthdate. mcraib@maplerun.org
